Evento Integrates Bitcoin Lightning Payments
We're excited to announce a game-changing update to Evento: Bitcoin Lightning Network payment support is now live! This integration marks a significant step forward in making event organization and attendance more accessible and efficient on a global scale.
Welcome to a new era of event payments – powered by Bitcoin Lightning on Evento.
The Power of Bitcoin Lightning
The Bitcoin Lightning Network is a layer-2 solution built on top of Bitcoin, enabling near-instantaneous, low-cost transactions. By implementing Lightning Network payments, Evento is harnessing the speed and efficiency of this cutting-edge payments technology for event organizers worldwide.
We've integrated Bitcoin payments using the Lightning Address standard. This innovative approach simplifies the payment process by using an address format similar to email. For example, your Lightning Address might look like evento@zbd.gg. It's a familiar concept that brings the complexity of Bitcoin payments down to an everyday level.
Setting Up Lightning-Fast Payments
Implementing Bitcoin Lightning payments on your Evento page is remarkably straightforward:
- Log into your Evento account
- Create a new Event (or edit an existing one)
- Under Payments Settings, enter your Event price/cost, followed by your Bitcoin Lightning Address
That's all there is to it.
No complex integrations or lengthy setup processes. Just enter your Lightning Address, and you're ready to accept Bitcoin payments for your events.
Expanding Global Reach for Event Hosts
One of the most exciting aspects of this integration is how it empowers event organizers around the world. With Bitcoin, Evento now offers a payment solution that transcends traditional banking limitations. This means that even if Evento payments doesn't support your local currency, you can still host paid events using Bitcoin.
User Experience: Streamlined and Efficient
For event attendees, the payment process is equally straightforward. When an organizer sets up an event with a set price, say $5, here's what attendees will experience:
- A clear "$5" button displayed on the event page
- Upon clicking, a payment flow appears with a QR code
- Scan the code with their Bitcoin wallet app and complete the transaction
The entire process is designed to be intuitive and fast, reducing friction in the payment experience.
Complementing Traditional Payment Methods
While we're excited about Bitcoin Lightning, Evento continues to support traditional payment methods like PayPal, Cash App, and Venmo. However, these options come with geographical restrictions and higher fees. Bitcoin offers a universal solution, especially beneficial for international events or in regions where traditional online payments are challenging.
