Evento x D++ Launch the First Bitcoin Social in Kaduna

Kaduna, Nigeria – August 30, 2025 – The Arewa Bitcoiners community in Kaduna hosted the first-ever Evento Bitcoin Social, setting a new standard for how Bitcoin education can be made accessible, fun, and community-driven.

This wasn’t a technical meetup. It was an experiment in making Bitcoin human: through games, conversations, and activities that anyone could enjoy. Students, tech enthusiasts, and even families came together to play, laugh, and learn in a safe and welcoming environment.
At Evento, our mission is simple: break down barriers to connection. And this event proved that Bitcoin education doesn’t have to be intimidating. It can be joyful, playful, and deeply human.

✊ Community Connection
Evento’s Community Manager, Sekinah Ibrahim, reminded everyone why we gather: to create safe, accessible avenues for assembly and organization to empower ourselves.
🏎️ Mario Kart: Double Sats
The heart of the event and the part that left people buzzing was Mario Kart: Double Sats, created by Bitcoin educator and builder D++.
Instead of explaining the Lightning Network with slides, she turned it into an experience: as participants raced, they earned real Bitcoin micropayments (sats) instantly. Every bump, boost, and finish line became a live demo of Bitcoin’s power.

As D++ explained:
“I built Mario Kart: Double Sats because simply talking about the Lightning Network is ineffective in conveying its true power. It has to be experienced to be believed!
Lightning increases transaction throughput on Bitcoin and enables use cases such as streaming sats and micropayments—things that can’t be done on the main chain. Yet there are few opportunities, even for bitcoiners, to engage with Lightning. That’s why I chose to stop talking about it and start demonstrating it through games.
Players receive dozens of micropayments over the course of a couple of minutes—all with final settlement, low fees, near-instant speed, and the inherited security of the Bitcoin blockchain. You can’t do this with any other asset class. You can’t do this with any other crypto.
I used to speak on panels about Bitcoin education and Lightning, but I’ve told conferences that I’m done talking. Instead, I’m showing these qualities through tournaments. Thanks to Evento, Abdul Malik and Sekinah were among the first to bring my game to their community, and my hope is to see more educators and builders doing the same.”

But D++ wasn’t in Kaduna. The responsibility of bringing her game to life on the ground fell to Abdul Maleek, Evento’s social media manager and one of the key organizers of the meetup.
Abdul shared what it was like to run Mario Kart: Double Sats for the first time:
“The Mario Kart event in Kaduna State was a massive success, exceeding all expectations. Its acceptance by our community was incredible, and the entire lead-up was fantastic. I first connected with D++ and was immediately captivated by her vision to use Mario Kart as a fun and engaging way to drive Bitcoin adoption and education.
The journey to execution involved several late-night calls with D++ and my developer friends, Oyin Damola from Bitnob, Aaliyah Juniad from Evento, and Abdul Majid Yunus. D++ was incredibly supportive, guiding us through the process of setting up the game on our Windows laptops. At one point, she even took control of our screens via Zoom to hardcode a solution for an issue we were facing. This was the first time I had witnessed that level of real-time support, and it was a powerful lesson in hands-on collaboration.
The event demonstrated how easily this concept could be brought to other communities. By using a beloved game like Mario Kart, we brought together people of all ages—the younger generation, our older siblings. We found common ground in friendly competition, all while introducing the power of the Lightning Network and the magic of Bitcoin. The simple act of earning sats for winning a race made the technology tangible and exciting for everyone involved.”
Abdul’s reflections highlight something crucial: this model is scalable. With guidance from builders like D++, local organizers can replicate the setup and bring Lightning to life in their own communities.

He added:
“Our Mario Kart event in Kaduna was a powerful demonstration of how to bridge the gap between complex technology and everyday people. Instead of hosting a boring lecture, we turned Bitcoin education into a high-energy racing tournament.
The event’s power was in its simplicity. Everyone understands racing games, and the addition of earning sats made the learning both enjoyable and rewarding. This shared experience broke down barriers and proved that Bitcoin is a technology for the masses.
This model is a game-changer for community building. It shows that by using familiar and fun activities, you can introduce new people to the power of the Lightning Network and make their first Bitcoin experience a memorable one.”
Together, D++’s vision and Abdul’s execution made the Kaduna Bitcoin Social unforgettable and showed just how powerful collaboration between global builders and local organizers can be.

Voices from Kaduna
The joy and impact of the event came through in participants’ own words:
- Abbass Adamu: “Picking up the controller brought back all my childhood joy. Competing and earning sats made it unforgettable.”
- Ibrahim Muhammad: “Too many Nigerians still see Bitcoin as a scam. This kind of fun, hands-on experience flips the narrative and shows the real potential.”
- Aaliyah Junaid, Evento Engineer: “This was a resounding success. We’re building a vibrant community and making Bitcoin truly accessible for Kaduna and beyond.”

Why This Matters
The Kaduna Bitcoin Social proved something powerful: when you make learning fun, barriers disappear.
A beloved game became a gateway to Lightning education. Children painted while their parents opened wallets. Strangers became friends through racing and sats. Bitcoin shifted from “scary and complicated” to “something I just earned by playing.”
This model is easy to replicate, and it works. With the right support, Mario Kart: Double Sats and community socials like this can be brought to other cities around the world.

What’s Next
The Evento Bitcoin Social will return monthly in Kaduna. And this is just the beginning.
If you’re a community leader, you can host one too. If you’re a philanthropist or freedom advocate, your support can help us bring these socials to new regions where freedom money matters most.
Together, we can build communities where financial freedom is accessible, tangible, and joyful.
