The Evento Story

The Evento Story
The Magic of Meeting People
There’s something magical about meeting someone you truly vibe with—the spark that says, “This person gets me.” Maybe it’s a future best friend, a mentor, a romantic partner, or someone who’ll share the perfect inside joke. And while we all want more of these connections, let’s face it: meeting people you like is hard.
We’ve all been there: endlessly swiping, awkwardly mingling at mixers, or standing at a party wondering if we’ll ever escape small talk hell. But when we do click with someone, it’s worth every awkward moment. That’s what I wanted to solve with Evento: to make finding those sparks easier, natural, and fun—through events.
From Activism to Connection
Growing up, I was the shy, nerdy kid who never got invited to a single party. I studied during lunch, after school, and on the bus. Socializing? Not my thing. I was laser-focused on getting into Berkeley. And I did! When I got there, I met other quirky, ambitious kids like me—the ones who didn’t fit in but were unapologetically themselves. For the first time, I found my people.
At Berkeley, I immersed myself in activism—organizing events, leading campaigns, and building communities centered around social change. I organized rallies, workshops, discussion groups, and dinner parties—all aimed at getting people to really connect so they can help build a better future together. But beyond the political and social objectives, I noticed something profound: these gatherings created spaces where people connected on a personal level, forming friendships and support networks that extended beyond the causes we championed.
I also hosted informal get-togethers, inviting friends from different circles to meet, share stories, and build relationships. These events were more than just social gatherings; they were opportunities for people to step out of their shells, find common ground, and feel a sense of belonging.
The Birth of Evento

These experiences planted the seed for Evento. I envisioned a platform that could replicate the magic of these in-person connections—a space where organizing events was seamless, and building community was at its core. In January 2024, I began developing Evento, and by June, we launched our first version.
Evento is more than an events app; it’s a tool for organizing and connecting communities, anywhere in the world. Inspired by the power of human connection, Evento leverages technologies like Bitcoin—and soon, Nostr—to provide a safe space for people to gather, collaborate, and organize with ease.
Since our launch, Evento has powered over 1,000 events worldwide, bringing people together in cities like Los Angeles, Boston, New York, San Francisco, Nairobi, Kaduna, Buenos Aires, Brasil, and beyond. We've been the go-to platform for satellite events at Bitcoin conferences like TABConf, Bitcoin++, and Satsconf, as well as community gatherings, activist meetups, and educational workshops at universities across the globe.

With Evento, you can:
- Create minimalist, elegant event pages for free
- Manage RSVPs, guest lists, and updates seamlessly
- Create shared event photo albums
- Comment and interact with guests on event walls
- DM new connections in-app
- Build your network by following and connecting with other users
- Build a community around your events
- Pay and get paid in Bitcoin with Lightning Addresses
- Show off your Lightning Address & Nostr handle
Evento isn’t just for individuals. Brands, nonprofits, students, educators and activists can use it to foster connections and bring people together. Whether you’re hosting a community gathering, a political rally, a workshop, or an intimate dinner, Evento makes it easy to create meaningful moments that inspire action and spark change. All for free.
Why I’m Building This Thing

My mission with Evento is simple:
- Make hosting and organizing events so easy that anyone can do it.
- Help people meet and connect in ways that feel authentic and meaningful.
- Provide a secure, accessible platform for assembly and organization—even in places where freedom of movement, money, and information is restricted.
Life is about connection. It’s about the people we meet, the stories we share, and the moments we remember. With Evento, I hope to inspire more people to take that first step—to host, to attend, and to connect.
