The Magic of Meeting People

There’s something magical about meeting someone you truly vibe with—the spark that says, “This person gets me.” Maybe it’s a future best friend, a mentor, a romantic partner, or someone who’ll share the perfect inside joke. And while we all want more of these connections, let’s face it: meeting people you like is hard.

We’ve all been there: endlessly swiping, awkwardly mingling at mixers, or standing at a party wondering if we’ll ever escape small talk hell. But when we do click with someone, it’s worth every awkward moment. That’s what I wanted to solve with Evento: to make finding those sparks easier, natural, and fun—through events.

I Wasn’t Always This Cool

Let’s rewind. Growing up, I was the shy, nerdy kid who never got invited to a single party. I studied during lunch, after school, and on the bus. Socializing? Not my thing. I was laser-focused on getting into Berkeley. And I did! When I got there, I met other quirky, ambitious kids like me—the ones who didn’t fit in but were unapologetically themselves. For the first time, I found my people.

I went from socially invisible to hosting study groups, attending parties, and becoming a social butterfly. My world opened up, and I realized just how transformative meaningful connections could be.

My First Party Experiment

It was Valentine’s Day at Berkeley. My single friends didn’t have plans, and they came from different circles and majors, so they didn’t know each other. I wanted to help them meet new people—maybe even find someone they clicked with. But I didn’t want to just throw any party—there kind where you stick a bunch of people and alcohol in a room and expect them to actually talk to each other. There needed to be a massive icebreaker to push them out of their comfort zones. How could I get everyone to remove their facades and take everyone else a lot less seriously?

That’s when inspiration struck: what if everyone had to show up in lingerie?

The infamous vday-nite invitation.

To make it less intimidating, I organized connection games like an anonymous compliment jar, a giant game of spin the bottle, and passed around ice-breakers. I even served pink cocktails with dry ice, so even your drink was sexy.

At first, people were hesitant. Showing up in lingerie was no small ask. But those who did take the plunge embraced the theme, pushed past their nerves, and opened themselves up to new ways of interacting with strangers. By the end of the night, friendships were blooming, sparks were flying, and everyone left with a hilarious story to tell.

It wasn’t just about romance (though there was plenty of that). It was about creating an environment where people felt comfortable enough to let their guard down and connect—whether as friends, future collaborators, or something more.

Seeing my friends—who might never have crossed paths otherwise—chatting, laughing, and clicking with each other was the biggest win of all.

The Lingerie Party Legend

After that night, the lingerie parties became a regular thing. Each one brought more people together, and the feedback I received was incredible. Guests told me how my parties helped them break out of their shells, feel confident, and meet people they never would have otherwise. Some found friends, others found love.

It was empowering—for them and especially for me.

That lingerie party taught me something profound: the right atmosphere and a little creativity can transform even the shyest crowd into a room full of connection. It planted the seed for what would eventually become Evento—a way to help people meet, connect, and make memories through unique, shared experiences.

Because if a lingerie party can bring people together, imagine what’s possible when you create a platform designed to do just that.

So… What’s Evento?

Evento is like Instagram, but for events. I started Evento in January of 2024 and launched the first version of the product in June. Evento has now hosted hundreds of events and has helped connect thousands of people.

With Evento, you can:

  • Create minimalist, elegant event pages in seconds
  • Manage RSVPs, guest lists, and updates seamlessly
  • Create shared event photo albums
  • Comment and interact with guests on event walls
  • DM new connections in-app
  • Build your network by following and connecting with other users
  • Build a community around your events

Evento isn’t just for individuals. Brands and businesses can use it to bring communities together. Whether you’re hosting a networking mixer, a public pop-up, or an intimate dinner, Evento makes it easy to create meaningful moments with your customers. It’s easy and free to set up an Evento profile, create and share your first event, and build a following of people who love your events.

More than just an event planning tool, Evento is a social connector that makes meeting people at events effortless. And this is just the beginning—2025 is going to be full of exciting updates and features.

Why I’m Building This Thing

Brianna and Evento mascot, Mr. Milou.

My mission with Evento is simple:

  1. Make hosting and organizing events so easy that anyone can do it.
  2. Help people meet and connect in ways that feel authentic and meaningful.

Life is about connection. It’s about the people we meet, the stories we share, and the moments we remember. With Evento, I hope to inspire more people to take that first step—to host, to attend, and to connect.

So go ahead—make a new friend. Kiss a stranger. Laugh a little too hard. Get out of your comfort zone. And let’s make the magic of meeting people as easy as it should be.

Keep celebrating,

Brianna & Team Evento
